Looks like Malaysia really can&rsquo;t catch a break huh?
From political issues, economy issues with the rise of goods going up and now data privacy issues as well. Recently there was a report that the data of at least 22.5 million Malaysian&rsquo;s were put up for sale.

The data allegedly contains the entire adult population in Malaysia born between 1940 to 2004 which full details such as their full name, IC number, address, mobile number, gender, race, religion and the photo of your IC.
It was listed for sale for US$10,000 (~RM43,870) and also accepted in Bitcoin or Monero cryptocurrency.
Dato Seri Hamzah Zainudin, who is the Home Affairs Minister, had denied that the data came from the National Registration Department (JPN) and he says that authorities with the assistance of the Home Affairs ministry will be investigating the individuals behind the sale of personal data.

As of now, there are no further details on separate sales of the data and eKYC photo which allegedly came from the Election Commission&rsquo;s voter registration site.

The said individual claims that the data was obtained from JPN&rsquo;s MyIdentity API which has 160GB worth of data which covers all Malaysian adults. It was posted on an online forum which acts like a marketplace with many others offering similar data leaks. As for this individual, the person claims to be the same party behind last years data sale of almost 4 million Malaysians.
If you thought this was fake, the seller even provided the data of the Home Minister himself as proof of authenticity.

No personal data leak from JPN during the last round

Following the issue that happened last year, Hamzah confirmed that the data leak specifically is not from JPN. He also confirmed that the firewall for the data security control system is very secure. JPN has also ensured Malaysians on the security and integrity of the data.
The Star reported that at least 104 agencies are permitted to use the MyIdentity data and serves as a data-sharing platform between various government agencies. Despite the police report being lodged and investigations being carried out, there has been no clear answer on how the data was leaked.

Although the source is not directly from JPN, there is still a concern as in recent times, Malaysians have been receiving many scam calls and phishing attacks from people impersonating officials from banks, police and even courthouses.

Is Your Data Safe? JPN Claims Not At Fault For Info Leak Of 22.5 Million Malaysians

Everyone knows the struggle of finding parking in a shopping mall on a weekend.
But the one thing many Malaysians love is the convenience of how we have Touch &lsquo;n Go to pay for parking cause it&rsquo;s super convenient. Many of us now live in the era of cashless transactions and sometimes we don&rsquo;t even bring cash around with us anymore.

But if you&rsquo;re one to go to 1 Utama, you&rsquo;ll know that out of all the biggest malls in Malaysia and it still does not support TnG payments as they have their own parking payment card known as ONECARD.
It all started with a TikTok
As jokes can be fun and all, TikTok user Ping Zhi Chuah took the opportunity to make a TikTok stating about the struggles of going to 1 Utama without small change.

Ping had no small change and used a RM20 note to pay for his parking and in return, rather than getting notes back, he received RM18 of change in 50 cent coins (which were all new and shiny). The TikToker showed his frustration in a joking way saying how he now has all the coins while holding it in his hand.
Taking an opportunity
After that went viral, our favourite meme site MGAG took the opportunity to jokingly roast 1 Utama for not having TnG as one of their cashless parking options.

But today the joker gets outplayed as 1 Utama came back with the ultimate response to MGAG as they plugged a promo for their ONECARD parking system.

1 Utama said that they had a good laugh on the post and figured a meme would be just as good as a response for this type of situation.
A spokesperson from 1 Utama had also shared that they do not believe in monopolies and want to keep parking rates affordable and free of surcharges for their shippers. Plus, for those using ONECARD, shoppers can earn UPoints and convert them into parking credits.

1 Utama Hits Back At MGAG After Roasting Them For Not Having TnG Parking

But what makes us just as unique is how each state has their own dialects which can sometimes confuse most people, even locals. Have you tried having a full conversation with a Kelantanese person? Omg I always struggle to understand half the things they are saying.
The good thing about being able to speak multiple language is that it helps strengthen yourself in the working world and even the talent world.
A grab driver in Sarawak had posted a video on TikTok where he stole the spot light with his &ldquo;ability&rdquo; to speak another language. Typically, we don&rsquo;t see Malays talking in Mandarin or any other Chinese dialects but this got netizens impressed&hellip; and confused.

Off the get go, it&rsquo;s impressive that a non-Chinese person can confidently and fluently talk the language but as you can see in the video, even the uncle at the stall was also left in a state of shock when trying to communicate with him. The man was too stunned to speak.
One possible reason why most of us wouldn&rsquo;t understand the language is due to the Grab driver speaking in a local dialect which only Sarawakians can understand or is because he really isn&rsquo;t talking in a mandarin?
Not the first time the rider went viral on TikTok
Not too long ago, he had also gone viral when speaking Mandarin while at a motorcycle workshop. Although the Chinese man in the video didn&rsquo;t seem to understand what he&rsquo;s trying to say, his friends definitely had a good laugh as they were amazed at his speaking skills.
In fact, the video actually had 1.7 million views and 148.4K likes on it.

Do many Malaysians speak a Chinese language?

To be fair, most schools in Malaysia teach Mandarin primarily, in comparison to the other Chinese dialects.
In Malaysia, Chinese languages vary from Mandarin to other dialects such as Cantonese, Hakka and Hokkien. These dialects may also further vary upon the state you live in and family upbringings. At the moment, there is around 22.4% of Chinese ethnicity living in Malaysia but it doesn&rsquo;t specificy how many of them could speak which language / dialects as some classify themselves as a &ldquo;banana&rdquo; (unable to speak ANY Chinese language / dialect).

Netizens Stunned At Sarawakian Grab Rider Speaking Mandarin?

If you ask Malaysians what do we all have in common, for sure someone will answer is that we all love to eat. No matter where you go, there&rsquo;s always something delicious to eat around the corner at almost any time of the day.

But one thing that&rsquo;s difficult to handle is how people view our food and also maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness of the restaurant and the food. One slip up and a post on social media can mean the downfall of the restaurant as it is.
Recently, a customer took to Facebook having shared their bad experience at a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur as she came across a fishing hook while enjoying the meal with her family. Her father had found the hook inside the fish head embedded in a chunk of flesh.

&ldquo;Isn&rsquo;t it incredible? We found a fishing hook inside a fish head. Fortunately, my father didn&rsquo;t take a whole bite, and broke apart the flesh before finding the hook.&rdquo; she said.
As she was stunned, she had asked for the manager to make a report on the incident.
Manager blames distributor and not their restaurant

The woman flagged one of the waiters and explained what would happen if other families did not discover the hook or if children were to share the meal. The waiter did apologise and said it was the kitchen&rsquo;s fault for being careless which is understandable.
But things took a twist when she went to pay for the meal, she questioned the manager in charge over the matter. However, the manager allegedly responded stating that &ldquo;it&rsquo;s not our fault, it&rsquo;s the supplier&rsquo;s problem.&rdquo;

Even after this issue, the restaurant had only deducted 60 cents from the total bill as a form of &ldquo;compensation&rdquo;.
Report to JKN if ethics are not followed
The public is advised to immediately make a complain to the State Health Department (JKN) if people who sell food without complying with the ethics of preparation of the food.
Earlier in January 2022, a famous restaurant in Kelantan had been penalized under the Food Act 1983 for causing food hazards after a child had accidentally swallowed a nail which was used to seal the food packaging.

Looks like we&rsquo;ll have to be more careful when we eat outside. Sad to say the behaviour from the restaurant owner was truly disappointing and hope that no one will need to go through an issue like this again.

Customer Finds Fish Hook In Food! Restaurant Blames Supplier Instead

Looks like things are getting a little spicy in the world of politics.
Many know that Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) is an Islamist political party in Malaysia. Recently their Youth Chief Ahmad Fadhli Saari was in the spotlight as he came under heavy fire when he visited a cinema in KL.

For those who didn&rsquo;t know, there is no cinemas at all in Kelantan and those who would want to watch a movie will need to head to Terengganu to do so. Ever since PAS ruled in 1990, the Lido Cinema along Jalan Pos Office Lama, Kota Bharu had closed down.
The best part of this whole issue is that Ahmad Fadli who is the Pasir Mas MP was also the man who had initially rejected the proposal to build a cinema in Kelantan back in 2016 due to cinemas being a source of maksiat (social ills).

PAS Selangor Youth speaks up on the situation

Due to all the backlash, PAS Selangor Youth had stepped in to defend Ahmad Fadhli on Facebook. The only reason why he was at the cinema was due to him accepting the invitation to watch the new &ldquo;Mat Kilau&rdquo; film and wanted to show his support for it.
They also stated the cinema ban in Kelantan and watching movies in KL should be viewed as a separate matter and things like this should be judged in a fair manner. Meanwhile, they also stated that they still support the context of rejecting cinemas in Kelantan as the current day movies do not comply with the shariah and has loose regulations.
Well, that&rsquo;s one way to put it huh? I guess this is why the party has been losing support over the years. As highlighted by one Twitter user, the only reason why they are still in power is due to voters outside Kelantan coming back to the state just for the election.

What is the iconic triangular chocolate bar? Or, what chocolate bar has mountains on its packaging? Even more, what chocolate do you bulk buy after a family holiday from Langkawi? Right, most probably the first answer that crosses your mind is no other than Toblerone.&nbsp;
The mountain shaped chocolate bar, Toblerone will have to remove Switzerland from its packaging starting from 2023 as it will no longer be exclusively produced in its home country.
The triangular chocolate was produced in Bern, Switzerland which was established by the Tobler family factory in 1908.
However, Toblerone will open a new production line in Slovakia by the end of the year as a response to the growing demand, as mentioned by the brand's owner, American food giant Mondelez International.&nbsp;
Mondelez stated in an email to AFP that they will continue investing in the Bern plant. They also produce Mika and Suchard chocolates at the production line launch in Slovakia. It will unlock significant capacity at the Bern site that will eventually allow it to manufacture millions of additional bars.&nbsp;
"For legal reasons, the changes we are bringing to our production require us to adjust our packaging to comply with the Swiss law, particularly to remove the word 'Switzerland' from the packaging front," said Mondelez.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Toblerone produces seven billion chocolate bars a year, with 97% of the production exported to 120 countries. They are ubiquitous at airport duty-free shops. They come in five main flavours which are, chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, crunchy almond, and fruit and nut. They also vary in size; from mini, standard centimetres, one metre long, jumbo, and to infinity (just kidding). Not just chocolate, they come in cakes too. Moreover, fun packs are also available according to the festive season or celebration.&nbsp;

Are you one of those people who drive to work every day? Raise your hand if you&rsquo;re constantly stuck in traffic despite your workplace being nearby.

A study was conducted and states that commuters in the Klang Valley spend at least 44 hours per month being stuck in traffic jams. The average employee is estimated to be stuck in their vehicles for one to two hours everyday during their journey to work says UiTM Dr Ismaniza Ismail.

Most employees work only eight hours a day but due to the daily commute, many lose a couple hours of their day right there. Employees around the Klang Valley also have to wake up earlier than usual in the morning to get ready and avoid getting stuck in traffic jams.
In fact, some people when going to work, instead of a smooth journey, they drive right into a traffic jam which can also be just outside of their housing area since most major housings are close to the main road or highway.
Dr Ismaniza states that the issue doesn&rsquo;t only plagues workers&rsquo; personal lives but also affects the productivity cost. The average wage in Malaysia is RM7 an hour and for two hours a day wasted in traffic and then you multiply it by 22 working days, most employees was at least RM308 of productivity in a month.
If you think RM308 isn&rsquo;t a lot, it can do wonders such as paying for petrol, groceries at home and many other necessities.
Everyone knows that when you&rsquo;re stuck in a traffic jam, it can affect ones mental and emotional health. Plus it&rsquo;s bad for our bodies as it can cause backpain for sitting down for long durations thus affecting ones emotions and productivity within a workplace.

Lately, the LRT/MRT and e-hailing services such as Grab have been the talk of the town as many find it too inefficient. The frequency of trains has decreased due to it being under maintenance and stations are getting too crowded. Meanwhile Grab is facing a shortage of drivers on the road due to many not willing to drive in the heavy traffic and have now left for other proper jobs again.

One solution suggested is for companies to have flexible working arrangements so employers can adopt ways to reduce employee&rsquo;s stress. If it&rsquo;s one thing that&rsquo;s certain, its that those in the Klang Valley can expect traffic congestions to get worse.
As we all talk about arrangement for flexible working hours in the future to reduce stress and increase productivity, the government had also passed an amendment in the Employment Act which will be enforced starting on 1 September.
By then, employees are allowed to formally request for flexible working arrangements which include working hours, days and to remotely work. However, their employers must give a written reply within 60 days and provide a reason for the rejection of the application.
If its one thing is that I hope the government will take the public transport issue mor seriously and see to improve its services in the coming years. If this keeps up, I don&rsquo;t think anyone would even be attracted to live or work in Kuala Lumpur anymore.

Klang Valley Employees Waste 44 Hours In Traffic Every Month 

National women&rsquo;s top squash player, S. Sivasangari was involved in an accident at Maju Expressway last Sunday (June 26). Unfortunately, she was ruled out of the upcoming Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games due to severe injury.&nbsp;
The 23-year-old athlete was a passenger in a car when a lorry crashed into them. She was rescued before the vehicle caught fire and rushed to Hospital Putrajaya after sustaining head and body injuries which required emergency surgery.&nbsp;
According to a press conference held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM) yesterday, she is awake and in stable condition.&nbsp;

The Commonwealth Games is set to take place from July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham, England. Sivasangari just won her second national championship title this month as reported by Free Malaysia Today. She was Malaysia&rsquo;s medal hope in women&rsquo;s individual and doubles games and was set to be the Malaysian contingent&rsquo;s flag-bearer alongside Paralympian Bonnie Bunyau Gustin in Birmingham next month.
It is the second accident that took place at the same location involving a high profile athlete. Back in January 2020, then world&rsquo;s best badminton player, Kento Momota was involved in a crash with a lorry as well where he tragically witnessed his driver&rsquo;s death. He suffered a broken nose, fractured cheekbone and received stitches to his lip.&nbsp;
Sivasangari Subramaniam is a Kedahan born squash athlete who has been playing the sport since she was eight. Her career kick started when she was nominated as National Schools Sports Council (MSSM) 2011 Promising Sportsgirl of the Year in 2011. Years later, she became the youngest women national champion in final Ohana 34th National Squash Championships in 2018. On March 6 2022, she won College Squash Association (CSA) National Collegiate Individual Championships as her first individual title for Cornell University. She is currently ranked the world&rsquo;s 19th in women&rsquo;s squash.

Maju Expressway, also better known as MEX Highway is an accident hotspot for road vehicles for its long and bent road. Even the residents are concerned by the frequent accidents happening in the area. The responsible company, Maju Expressway Sdn Bhd (MESB) should add more warning signage for road users to be aware and stay alert. Either way, we equally carry the same responsibility to drive safely on the road, especially involving speed limit and traffic lights, for ourselves and others.&nbsp;

It seems like lately since the pandemic is now over, many people have been falling for scams all over the place. And it seems like either that their ads are left via flyers around an office or home or victims fall prey to ads they see on social media.
Recently, a netizen had shared her unfortunate experience as she got scammed by a cleaning company called Premium Cleaning Service on Facebook.

In a report by Sin Chew Daily, the woman had claimed that she was redirected to a WhatsApp link indicating a business account. From there, the person manning the account had replied a set of instructions to follow which had led her into getting scammed.
The scam happened so quick that you wouldn&rsquo;t even notice

In the ad provided by the WhatsApp account, it stated that there&rsquo;s a discount package for customers. 1 maid cleaning is RM70 for 4 hours and 2 maids at RM90. Both offers had a RM10 discount over the original price.
As she woman enquired more about the service, the company insisted that it is only applicable if the woman reserves the cleaning service via a mobile application called MyShop which has &ldquo;apparently&rdquo; been used by many. The account even convinced the woman that companies such as Hero market and Healthland had used it for over a year.

The company then provided her a screenshot of how to download the app + its link. The woman was even required to pay a RM20 deposit fee when downloading it. Naturally, she had followed all the steps as she wanted the cleaning service and she picked out her preferred timeslot.
During the payment process for the deposit, the app had lead her to a banking website but it had failed to process the transfer due to the system being &ldquo;under maintenance&rdquo;. After showing the screenshot to the person, they requested her to wait for a while. The lady had even tried two different bank accounts to pay for the service and that&rsquo;s where it hit her as this was a scam.
She had received a message from her bank stating that there was a transfer recently and to her shock, all her money in her savings account was gone. She then immediately informed the bank of what happened and froze her account and subsequently made a police report on the matter.
According to the bank, the money was transferred to a CIMB account belonging to a man named Mohamad Badrul Bin Aziz.

Lately, many Malaysians have been victims of scams and Bank negara Malaysia had issued out a warning to help educate Malaysians to not easily trust these messages on Facebook.
