Recently a 12-year-old boy from Kedah had gained &ldquo;internet fame&rdquo; for his &ldquo;live reporting&rdquo; over the discovery of a 4m-long python in the drain of his neighbourhood market.

Mumammad Haziq Mohd Asyraf had spoke animatedly about the large snake in the Bukit Selambau, Sungai Petani while cleaning out the drains. He had mimicked a news reporter and took the opportunity to record his effort.
"Assalamualaikum, residents of Bukit Selambau, and good afternoon. I'm Muhammad Haziq Mohd Asyraf and this is the latest news, reporting live from the market of Bukit Selambau," he said.

Haziq&rsquo;s mother said that the Kuala Muda Malaysia Civil Defence Force (AMP) had arrive in the evening and caught the Python. It was said to be around 30kgs and it was stuck inside the drainage system of the market. Authorities had later released the python back out into the wild.

The one thing she was most impressed with was the fact that he got the public&rsquo;s attention instead as many had left positive comments stating how impressive the boy was! Truth be told, he sounds like he had the passion for it!
But his spotlight did not end right there as he was given another opportunity to try a news broadcast but with a bigger audience!
Astro Awani handed him the mic to become a journalist for their segment!
One of Awani&rsquo;s location reporters had passed the mic to give a current report of the wet market and with absolutely no hesitation, Haziq had took the microphone and did his duty.

Haziq took the opportunity to explain what&rsquo;s around the market from his mom&rsquo;s vegetables to even the fish sellers. One of the highlights of it would be the fact that Haziq had no embarrassment or even clumsiness during his interviews, but he also added on asking on how&rsquo;s the business there.

The part that got everyone was when he went up to his mum and called her &ldquo;Datin&rdquo;!
In addition to his reporting skills, Astro Awani&rsquo;s reporter, Hadi, had even asked him about his dreams. Haziq says he wants to become a chef. When asked about being a journalist, he was okay but still unsure about it as he had to appear on the TV all the time. He was also happy to hear he became famous online for his video.
&nbsp;In addition to his speaking skills, he even shared a recipe for a cake! Not just the items but on the steps to make it as well!

Not many Malaysians are fortunate enough to own a car and some also may differ saying that using public transport is better and more cost efficient and it&rsquo;s more convenient. Although that the statement is true, many now debate whether owning a car is actually better than using public transport as the prices of e-hailing fares have surged up the ceiling.

Many of us need to still use Grab specifically when going home or to work as most stations (such as busses or even trains) don&rsquo;t directly access the housing area you might be living in.
Transport Minister Datuk Dr. Wee Ka Siong has now called upon platforms to give an explanation and clarification of the alleged price increase as high as 400% during peak hours after many have complained about expensive fares they have to pay recently.

He&rsquo;s requested for the Land Public Agency (APAD) to review and the issue and ask the companies to explain the price hike situation with expectations for an answer to come up in the next day or two.
APAD says that one of the few factors effecting the price is the working environment of drivers, passengers, service providers and others must be taken into count. This is to ensure the balance of supply and demand in e-hailing as both the service provider and user must have a mutual agreement for bookings via their apps while showing the fare amount.

If it isn&rsquo;t bad enough, the price hike is also affecting food delivery services. Customers even have the option for a premium queue order where it gets you the food faster, but it seems that many are ending up waiting just as long if not longer for food during peak hours.
For example, Food deliveries around the Kelana Jaya area to those residents in SS7 went up from RM2/ RM3 during off peak hours and RM5 delivery during peak to RM4.50/ RM5 during off peak and up to almost RM9 during peak hours.
With the reopening of economic sectors, services have seen a drop of approximately 25% in riders and at least a 10% of delivery food demand dropped as well.

Since prices are sky rocketing, many people are resorting to using Taxi&rsquo;s again as they offer more affordable prices. In fact, taxi passengers had increased by 40% lately said Combined Taxi Across Malaysia president Kamadurin Mohd Hussain.
Another reason towards the price hike of e-hailing services is due to the government not introducing controlled fares that taxi&rsquo;s have. During rush hour, due to competition, they take advantage to raise the prices due to high demand and as most of us are busy and want to get things done quick, we will automatically just take it.
Kamarudin suggests that the fairs of e-hailing services till still increase and it&rsquo;s almost impossible for it to go out of control if the number of taxi&rsquo;s decrease.
Fares on taxi&rsquo;s work differently as they start at RM3 and passengers will be charged RM0.10 for every 115m travelled.

Unfortunately, there has been an outbreak of the monkeypox virus in several countries in Europe and North America as it made headlines globally. Many had become worried as monkeypox had originally originated from countries with tropical rainforests and rural areas of Central and West Africa.

Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and scientist alike were baffled at the incident, but they had issued a statement informing others to not worry as the transmission of the virus is limited.
If one were to get infected from the virus, it won&rsquo;t have effects as bad as Covid-19 and most people typically recovers in 3 weeks or less.
What is Monkeypox and how is it transmitted?

As the name says it, this disease was actually first identified in monkeys and was first discovered in 1958 by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It all started when two outbreaks of a pox-like disease occurred in a monkey colonies which were kept for research purposes.
Although discovered in 1958, it wasn&rsquo;t till 1970 till the first human monkeypox case had happened in the Domocratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) as they were in an intensive period of attempting to eliminate smallpox.

Till this day, the host carrier of the monkeypox disease is still unknown but it&rsquo;s suspected that it may have came from African rodents.
The way the virus is transmitted is via humans through a few methods such as close contact with lesions, body fluids, respiratory droplets and contaminated materials such as bedding.
CDC says that the virus enters our bodies via broken skin, respiratory tract as well as mucous membranes (ears, nose and mouth).
Signs of monkeypox

Similar to smallpox, the symptoms are essentially the same but much milder. It starts up with a fever, headache, chills, muscle aches and also exhaustion.
The surface of your skin will also show signs of rashes which can spread around the body. If you see lymph nodes (bumps on your skin), don&rsquo;t be surprised as monkeypox can cause this.
The main steps of prevention for monkeypox is to have good personal hygiene and with that, you&rsquo;ll have a lower chance of getting infected.
Monkeypox is less contagious than

Thankfully of us, the outbreak in several countries have been reposting that the spread is slow, and the virus is less contagious compared to Covid-19.
The rise in cases however is a direct correlation towards the east of Covid-19 restrictions now.
Also, just for reassurance&rsquo;s sake, there&rsquo;s already a vaccine for it and it&rsquo;s proven to be effective. The vaccine however had been discontinued in the 1970s after the eradication of the smallpox virus. The main concern now is those below the age of 50 are likely those at risk since they had not received the vaccine due to it not being widely available.
WHO also stated that the current chickenpox vaccine should have 85% effectiveness against monkeypox.

Yes, monkeypox is something that we all have to be aware off, since it&rsquo;s closely elated to smallpox, the vaccine from it can help protect us. Another thing us Malaysians should also remember and make sure is to ensure you practice good hygiene and you should (hopefully) be fine.

"Don't Panic!" Health DG Advices Malaysians Over Monkeypox Outbreak 

Hari Raya should be a time where everyone enjoys the festive season surrounded by people you love and also, good food!
It&rsquo;s not uncommon that people host banquets and open houses throughout the month, and it can be in offices, homes and sometimes schools. During those events, VIPs or even VVIPs are invited and treated to a variety of food.

With that being said, a banquet event that was held at a school had caught the attention of many for the wrong reason and became the talk of social media.

Facebook user Mohd Fadli Salleh shared the incident online and it managed to gain 32K Likes, 2K reactions, 4K comments and 6.5K shares across the platform.
Unfair treatment towards the kids

When eating a &ldquo;banquet&rdquo; style meal, logically speaking everyone should be provided a table but unfortunately during this event, the kids who attended it were sitting on the floor while the VIP/ VVIPs were sitting under a tent with the chairs and tables nicely decorated.
Although the floor was mopped, it was still deemed inappropriate for the event. Another issue was that the food is too close to the floor and shoes which are covered in bacteria, viruses, germs and parasites. Not to mention, Malaysia is currently having an issue for Hand Food Mouth Disease (HFMD).
Aside from that, everyone had to wait for the VIPs to start the ceremony before the children were allowed to eat. The orphans also had to wait in long lines before they were able to eat.

Many talked about the contrast of students having to sit cross-legged on the floor. In fact, if one were to sit on the floor, logically people would also put a mat to ensure it&rsquo;s free from touching the dirty surface.
Some even said that parents are being too demanding over this situation but in this context, Fadli voiced out stating that it&rsquo;s the matter of manners, decency and self-worth.
Ironically enough, this issue happens almost every Ramadhan. Usually during these events, people want to celebrate the festive season with orphans and those under privileged as they too should be able to celebrate like everyone else.

Fadli ended his social media post with a note that the culture of having banquets at schools and only celebrating the VVIPs should stop. Additionally, schools should put the effort in making the banquet more enjoyable for the students instead of neglecting them.
Hopefully in the future, organizers of such events will take this more seriously. In fact, no need for VVIP invites as the whole purpose is to celebrate the children.

The Pastabilities Are Endless At La Risata, Ampang!

Collecting sneakers is one of the more expensive hobbies out there as many would like to chase the hype of owning the freshest kicks.
But one question that sets the bar is, how much would you really pay for a pair of sneakers?

Recently, luxury fashion brand Balenciaga had unveiled their &ldquo;Paris Sneaker&rdquo; collection which features some limited edition of their high-top sneakers. The price is set at S$2,590 (~RM8261.33) each which sounds reasonable considering it&rsquo;s Balenciaga.
But the shoes feature a design that&rsquo;s &ldquo;fully destroyed&rdquo; and some with a distressed canvas and rough edges around it making it look pre-worn.

Now these ones up here are the rough edges and pre-worn looking sneakers.

The &ldquo;extra destroyed&rdquo; shoes are one real ones in question. They quite literally look like they were pulled out of the trash and was abandoned somewhere for years as it features extremely worn and scuffed materials, worn marks and dirtied.
Now why would someone do this&hellip; or is this a sign of Balenciaga calling out the French for being very dirty?
Currently, Balenciaga says that the extra destroyed sneakers will have only 100 pairs and is available on their website in either black or white.
&ldquo;Worn for a lifetime&rdquo;
The French designer company explains that the limited-edition shoes and more specifically the &ldquo;extra destroyed&rdquo; ones suggest that the sneakers were meant to be worn for a lifetime.
Unfortunately, despite their efforts, it seems like they received more backlash than support from consumers worldwide. Yeah, no one wants to pay that much for a shoe that&rsquo;s looks like that. In fact, you could probably look better in a worn-out pair of converse instead.

Heavy criticism from the Chinese consumer market
It&rsquo;s no stranger that the brand had sparked anger among Chinese consumers. Recently they had over 2 million consumers voicing their criticism over Weibo and saying the shoe is too ugly and said it shows how the wealthy can be insensitive and tone-deaf.

Back in 2018, the brand was boycotted by many after a staff had roughly manhandled a Chinese tourist at a Balenciaga outlet in Printemps department store in Paris. Well, I&rsquo;m no shoe collector (at least for those expensive hyped-up shoes) but I do love getting new pairs to use and rotate them occasionally. Even if I had the money, I wouldn&rsquo;t bother getting these shoes cause it seriously just doesn&rsquo;t justify the price.

Well, it looks like Malaysians will have something to look forward to as SpaceX had recently noted that their Starlink satellite Internet service in will be available in 32 different countries throughout the world in 2023. One of them being Malaysia!
Initially the internet service belonging to Elon Musk is supposed to be available here in 2022. In a post by Lowyat, they had enquired with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) if SpaceX had obtained the necessary regulatory operation approvals in Malaysia but had never got a response.

Just as most Malaysians were wondering about Starlink, Azmin Ali who is the Minister of International Trade had tweeted about the government&rsquo;s view on Starlink.

He is currently in the United States as he is on a trade talk tour where he&rsquo;s met representatives from Amazon and even Microsoft. As he goes to meet SpaceX, he was greeted by Andrew Matlock who is the Director of Commercial Sales alongside Jonathan Hofeller and Samuel Gibbs IV who are the Vice Presidents at Starlink.

Even before it&rsquo;s officially launched, those interested can already reserve their Starlink by placing a deposit of USD99 (~RM435) and it will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis. The system will work as long as the area is within its satellite coverage and will require a Network Facility or Service Provider license (NFP/NSP) from the MCMC.
So, how much is it?

If you&rsquo;re looking forward to Starlink, it&rsquo;s going to cost you quite a bit as the price had recently increased. The hardware alone cost USD599 (~RM2,638) and the monthly subscription fee cost USD110 (~RM485).
For the price, its expected that you&rsquo;ll get between 100 to 200 Mbps with latency as low as 20ms in most locations. This is possible thanks to their low orbit earth (LEO) satellites which revolves around at a much lower altitude compared to geostationary satellites.
All honesty, this is much better than the current ConnectMe satellite service by MEASAT. It does provide 100% coverage around Malaysia but has download speeds up to 30Mbps and a high ping of 500ms.
Is Starlink worth it?

In my own personal opinion, only if you&rsquo;re in a more rural area where internet access can be limited, then yes, it would be worth the price, but you would probably want to share the cost among a few people, so it doesn&rsquo;t put a hole in your wallet.
But if you&rsquo;re still in the city like most of us, it would still make more sense to subscribe to the normal fibre packages from Maxis, Time or even Unifi as it is more cost effective and can provide higher speeds.

How many of you here remember the name PSY?
Well, if you don&rsquo;t know who he is, let me refresh your memory for a bit.

Fans had questioned what he was up to after seeing him go missing for almost 2 years long in the &nbsp;music scene, until he uploaded a video titled <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GPUZ4928hg">1010_peno_loud_PN</a> on his YouTube channel on 26 August 2021. This only marked a spark of his comeback before officially announcing his comeback on 12 April 2022.

With Malaysia in the endemic phase, many Malaysians are looking forward towards the reopening of entertainment in Malaysia. During the initial announcement, we got news of Justin Bieber, Russ and American rock band Boys Like Girl coming down Malaysia and it looks like PSY will be joining on the list too!
Well, it&rsquo;s only rumoured for now that PSY will be performing in Malaysia.

The 44-year-old is said to be performing at an annual conference in Sepang International Circuit for an e-commerce enterprise. If true, the event will be on 2nd &ndash; 3rd June. Aside from his performance, there&rsquo;s also a gathering of 100 automobiles (unstated if it&rsquo;s exotic supercars). Aside from PSY, rumour say that local singer-rapper Namewee will also be performing for the celebration.

Currently, there&rsquo;s not too much information if the performance will be opened to the public. But if it were to happen, it would mark the 3rd performance by PSY here in Malaysia since 2013 when he was invited to attend the Barisan Nasional Chinese New Year Reunion at Hajiang Secondary School in Penang and the Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA) on the same year.
Well, if the rumours are true, it would be pretty cool to catch him live. Plus, for those who don&rsquo;t listen to K-POp, you can kinda say that PSY s one of few artists that really broke the barrier of the music industry reaching global hits with his music.
PSY also says that he&rsquo;s planning to make more YouTube content to introduce global K-Pop fans to more Koren musical acts.

This time around, renown sports brand Adidas and luxury brand Gucci collaborated and netizens ahd called out one of their products which is an Umbrella that is not waterproof.

The product description had labelled it as &ldquo;non-waterproof&rdquo; and many questioned, what kind of umbrella is not waterproof&hellip;

The umbrella is supposedly a part of the upcoming Adidas x Gucci collection which aims to bring back some nostalgia to the brand on June 7. The products were first spotted at the FW22 &ldquo;Exquisite Gucci&rdquo; runway which is a result of Alessandro Michele&rsquo;s fascination with the old-school athleisure brand. The upcoming collection will rock the brands traditional three stripes and have the Gucci stripe and GG monogram.

Truth be told, the umbrella goes look cool and you have to appreciate the details that go into it from the Interlocking G and the Trefoil print in blue and red to the wooden G handle carved from birchwood.
As the collection will only be available on June 7, many have already enlisted themselves on the waiting list. And guess what, the price of the Umbrella is RM7,190. Yes, a RM7k umbrella that can&rsquo;t even protect you from the rain.

Essentially, the promotion of the umbrella is so you will stand out from the crowd while being protected by the hot sun.
Netizens in China shared their thoughts on the umbrella
It&rsquo;s no stranger that many people in China are also pretty fashionable and some claim that they have taken over the street fashion scene compared to those in the US.

But since the umbrella barely has any proper function, a fuss was made among buyers. Under the hashtag #notwaterproofcollabumbrellasoldat11000yuan, it alone has gained 130 million views on Chinese social media.
&ldquo;They could&rsquo;ve simply taken your money, but still gave you an umbrella as a gift&rdquo; said one angry netizen.
In fact, Gucci China had also changed the name of the product on their website from Rain Umbrella to just Umbrella. On Gucci International&rsquo;s site, the product is labelled as Sun Umbrella to avoid confusion among the crowd. Maybe this was only a mistake in China?
If you&rsquo;re really looking for a proper umbrella, you&rsquo;ll have to fork out an additional RM2,200 for a functioning one.

Well, if you have the spare cash laying around, I guess you could get it. But in all seriousness, the collection does look nice and does have the vibrant colours of both brands. If you wanna splurge on something luxurious, the bag would probably be a better cop as generally they would hold up their value longer.

Adidas X Gucci’s RM7,190 Umbrella NOT Actually Waterproof?! 

Theme parks have been one of few things that many people enjoy going to no matter if you&rsquo;re a kid or even an adult.
In Malaysia, we also do offer quite a variety of theme parks all around but unfortunately one of them had closed down during the pandemic and it&rsquo;s certainly sad to see how these places are now just a piece of history.

One of the notable theme parks that closed down was the Mimaland water park which closed down in 1994 after a 20-year run.
In a more recent time, the MAPS Perak (Movie Animation Park Studio of Perak) is now part of the list of abandoned theme parks in Malaysia.
What is MAPS Perak?

The Movie Animation Park Studio of Perak is a theme park from a joint venture between the Perak Corporation Berhad and Sanderson group. The park first opened on 26 June 2017, and it was Malaysia&rsquo;s first fully animated-based theme park in Asia with attractions from DreamWorks Animation and The Smurfs at the cost of RM520 Million.
Unfortunately, the park was forced to temporarily close in 28 January 2020 due to overdue electricity bills after only 3 years of operation.

Although the closure was meant to be a temporary thing, the park had remained close till this day. There were a few factors towards why it remained closed. The most critical reason was due to the park being mismanaged and not having enough visitors.
It was claimed that the park had 50,000 monthly visitors however during their first month of operation, it was revealed that they only received up to 200 people only. Delays of the parks Dreamzone had also impacted it which resulted in a termination of the licensing agreement work DreamWorks.
Another reason why the park remained closed was due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Malaysia had been in lockdown and were restricted to interstate for almost 2 years. Due to this, it had sealed the fate of the park into closing down.
What&rsquo;s going on at the park now?
As most predicted, the park has ended up like Mimaland where everything is left to go through the test of time.

It's sad to see that a park with a lot of potential is now abandoned. Currently there&rsquo;s no say if the park will ever be revived but by the looks of it, it&rsquo;s likely that it will end up like Mimaland soon enough.
The odds of a revival for the park going to be tough as it&rsquo;s going to cost a lot to rebuild, clean and maintain the stuff there. I won&rsquo;t be surprised if explorers were to go to the park in the middle of the night trying to see if they can find ghost due to how it looks now too.
